Arthur Cross

From canvas to conversation starters

Acre Rigg4

From the north east of England, Arthur Cross has been creating art for more than four decades and has been working professionally since 2002. Educated at the University of Newcastle (Fine Arts), Arthur’s work covers a wide and varied spectrum - from portraiture, impressionism, still life, figurative and abstract to digital art, sculpture and installations.

Arthur is particularly interested in contrast and opposing themes. Acre Rigg, for example (above and on display at the 2009 Florence Biennale) combines elements of war with the warmth of oranges and yellows, but is really about the conflict of Arthur's first day at school.

Arthur's work is on display in private and public collections across the UK, Australia, the USA, Holland, Germany. He works out of the Ropewalk Studio in North Lincolnshire.
